JAMBO!! That means hello is Swahili. today was a crazy fun day! I got to see all kinds of different things in Mombasa. When we got up this morning Jess and I just hung around the house in the morning. We are the only girls here until the 15th so that is nice and we are loving it. We were kind of bummed at first...but come to find out we actually like it better this way because we get to travel the city and to the hospitals in smaller groups..which works well to our advantage. Later in the morning around 10 we went to the super market and the open air market. The super market was just like a Walmart basically with groceries and home supplies you would need. When we went to the super market...that was an experience to say the least! We walked through the whole thing and everyone just flocked to us. Asking us to buy things, walking with us through the whole thing, yelling at us, it was nuts! After that we came back to our house for lunch and rested for a bit and then headed to the beach...where I RODE A CAMEL! It was awesome LOL...kind of like a horse...but different? The beach was nice and there was actually a really nice resort down the beach. I have noticed in Mombasa...there is the very rich and the very poor-not much of a middle class at all. At the beach we met Ben, who is a local who works at the beach. He was super nice and taught us a lot about the beach and the history of Mombasa. He is going to take Jess and I snorkeling sometime while we are here. I learned tons about Crocodiles..who would of thought they were such interesting animals?..Gross... but interesting. (Chaser- if you are reading this you would of LOVED it.) At the Crocodile farm we also got to go through a botanical garden, aquarium, and reptile exhibit. We then walked back and ate dinner that our house mother had prepared for us. The fresh mango was AMAZING! I am getting tired and super excited for the hospital tomorrow. We are leaving at 8 to go for orientation and the hospital tour! I can't wait to see it...even though I have heard some sketchy things about it from one of the others who got here earlier in the week. Apparently the OR just has random power outages and they just have to stop surgery and wait for the lights to come back on?...it shall be interesting!

Enjoy the pictures!!
