What a day! I’m just crawling into bed (AT 730!?!?..it must
be the Africa air that allows me to go to bed so early at night…because I’m
certain if I was at home, I would never be asleep this early) and I LOVE it. I
have a cup of African hot tea, the newspaper, my book, and laptop. I sat here
trying to decide what to do first…and I decided I must blog first. I figured if
I read the newspaper…it will get me all worked up over politics and news (and I
don’t want to “angry blog”) and if I read my book I won’t be able to put it
down…and I’ll never get around to blogging. Speaking of never getting around to
things…I STILL have not done my laundry. I told Dollas she can’t allow me to do
anything but laundry tomorrow afternoon…because it is getting out of control.
Rain, rain, go away…but stay because you are just so darn
peaceful and relaxing J
It was a raining again today for most of the part, which makes sense since it
is Mombasa’s rainy season…but when it rains here it is MUDDY!! Which also makes
sense…but you just don’t really realize how inconvenient mud is until you are
walking through it quite often. As you guys saw from the pictures earlier the
sidewalks and any back roads are all dirt.
Today at the hospital I had a much better day. I got to “conduct”
three vaginal deliveries. Which is quite insane to me that I (a nursing STUDENT)
is the one performing the delivery, with just one nurse standing behind me
giving me instructions. But hey, I’m not complaining I learned tons today. By
the third delivery it felt like I could do it with my eyes closed! HAH just
kidding J I
came home from the hospital earlier than the other students today because it
wasn’t very busy. When Jess got home we went to eat at a restaurant with Sang
and walked around the supermarket and other shops for a while. And we were so
lazy we got a tuk tuk for the ride home…we were so tired we couldn’t even get ourselves
to walk home.
After getting home from the market and lunch I sat outside
and visited with Phares, Dollas, and Isaac for quite some time! I just love
these guys to pieces! After that they went home and I ate some dinner and took
a shower…and now here I am.
And that was my day…what a boring blog post to read! I hope
I have more exciting things to share tomorrow…and I’ll get the pictures from
Phares from the dinner that Jess and I prepared…I hope they turned out good! I’m
sure they did…Phares has quite a fancy camera! ;)
We are going back to the village to the orphans school again
on Thursday, which I find very exciting!! I will be sure to get more
information from Patience for you guys since it sounds like a lot of you were
very moved by that blog post and experience, I know I was!!
Hope you are all doing well and having a good week!!
XOXO,
Abbie
